Following a number of underground cable strikes, the Co-op have recently made a number of recommendations to improve on-site safety.
We hope you will be pleased to know that we have implemented these recommendations in their entirety to maximise the safety of our staff working on-site.
This means that, from this point onwards, we will only use cable avoidance tools with an estimator facility, and everyone expected to use one will be fully trained.
Each site will also have a nominated services marshal to oversee any ground breaking activity, and you will start to see a Service Avoidance Board on all sites where breaking ground activities are taking place.
These will contain relevant information to ensure the chances of a cable strike is minimised as far as possible. If you see one, please take the time to have a read and digest their contents.
